About Elena Rowlands

Elena Rowlands is a tax partner at Travers Smith LLP and advises on all tax aspects of the structuring and formation of investment funds (both private and listed) across the full range of alternative asset classes. She works with clients to decide on the optimum structure, jurisdiction and remuneration arrangements for their fund. Elena also advises fund managers (from start-up teams through to global multi-strategy houses) on GP-led secondaries transactions, as well as the complex tax issues that impact their own businesses. Recent work includes restructurings as a result of international tax changes, carried interest and co-invest arrangements, and tax authority disputes. Elena also advises institutional investors on the tax risks associated with investing in alternative fund structures. A high proportion of her work has an international element.
