About Christian Schmelz

Christian Schmelz is a partner of Schoenherr Rechtsanwälte and heads the environment group. He specialises in project development, planning, permitting and all environment-related matters. Clients not only include national and international corporates – in the energy, infrastructure, automotive, steel, food, retail, waste, research, pulp and paper industries, as well as the financial industry – but also municipalities, provinces, the federal administration, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and the EC. Christian has expertise in all kinds of infrastructure, energy and industrial projects, and advises and co-ordinates the biggest Environmental Impact Assessment proceedings in Austria. He is the author of numerous books and articles and is an honorary professor at the University of Vienna.
