About Michael Garellek

Michael Garellek is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Montreal office and the leader of the firm's financial services regulatory group. He has extensive experience assisting Canadian and foreign banks, insurance companies, trust companies, and other regulated financial institutions, as well as a number of fintech companies, money services businesses, and crypto-asset trading platforms, in respect of regulatory and compliance questions in Canada, including anti-money laundering and custody of assets. Michael advises clients on transactions (M&A), blockchain-related agreements, the application of the law and regulations in Quebec and Canada, and in dealing with regulators.
