Adolfo Athié
is a partner at Basham, Ringe y Correa S.C. and a specialist in intellectual property law who focuses on both litigation and counselling. His work includes patents, trade mark and copyright litigation; privacy and data protection litigation; and administrative litigation. Together with his litigation team, he developed a legal strategy to standardise the validity of patents in Mexico, which ended with the recognition of a historical criterion (2020–2021) in terms of patents by the Supreme Court of Justice, and which establishes that patents cannot be valid for less than 17 years from their granting. He is a member of the Barra Mexicana Colegio de Abogados (BMA), the Asociación Mexicana para la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual (AMPPI) and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
