About José Quiñones

José Quiñones has extensive experience in advising foreign financial institutions in structured finance deals, sovereign bond offerings in international capital markets, cross-border transactions and M&A. He has also acted as director to insurance and surety companies, and has been retained by insurance companies and reinsurance syndicates to advise on complex claims involving agreements governed by Guatemalan or foreign laws. José is a designated arbitrator for the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and actively participates, pro bono, in institutions that work for the transparency of the Guatemalan system of justice. He leads the compliance department at ALTA in Guatemala, actively advising corporations on implementing effective compliance and governance programmes. He also teaches commercial contracts and financial law at Universidad Francisco Marroquín, Guatemala.
